2018 Wedding Trends To Look Out For

November 22, 2017 Alyssa Ayala

With the 2018 wedding season around the corner, there are a lot of wedding design trends to consider. Get ready to see organic, fresh, and simplistic elements that will transform every wedding into an automatically chic and effortlessly stylish event.

Transparent elements

What better way to make your wedding look clean and minimal other than making one of the essential colors in your wedding color palette clear?? By using mediums such as acrylic and vellum to decorate your wedding with, everything will look instantly modern. So far, we have seen transparent overlays in wedding stationery suites, acrylic dinner menus, glass escort cards, and large plastic seating charts.

Tropical greenery

With this wedding season's Pantone color of the year being greenery, couple's definitely got creative with how to make their greenery weddings unique. One trend we will sure to be seeing more of in 2018 is the appearance of tropical foliage on wedding invitations and transforming venues into tropical paradises. Be on the lookout for more ferns, palm fronds, and banana leaves!

Dessert bars

Over the last few years, we have started to see more couples wanting to give their wedding guests options for what to eat for dessert! Rather than just solely serving up the traditional wedding cake, most weddings now will have a dessert bar (also known as the dessert table) filled with sample cake bites, mini cupcakes, cream puffs, chocolate truffles, assorted donuts, or even layered lemon bars!

Geometric shapes

We are loving how millennials are getting creative with their wedding decor! By moving away from traditional styles, we are seeing a ton of fun geometric shapes in wedding reception stationery, as well as some creative ceremony backdrops. With abstract shapes in the mix, there are endless possibilities on how to accessorize and decorate your wedding.

Drip cakes & semi-naked cakes

This wedding season's style of beauty in imperfection was really taken to heart in the wedding cake world. Rather than aiming to perfectly frost every tier, cake artists are now expressing their creativity by leaving layers unfrosted and not letting the chocolate or caramel sauce completely cover the cake, but instead create a "drip" effect.

Cascading bouquets

Away with the tightly-bundled floral stems and in with the soft, free-flowing, cascade bouquet arrangements. With greenery making a huge comeback last year, it made its way into bridal bouquets and we absolutely love the romantic look it creates!

Monograms

2017 was all about the emergence of modern calligraphy...and now one of the biggest trends of 2018 weddings are beautifully crafted wedding monograms. With the couple's marriage signifying the joining together of their lives, what better way than to show that unification on paper with their initials? Couples have gotten creative with designing crests  or simple monograms to use on their wedding stationery, seating charts, guest favors, cocktail napkins...you name it!

Greenery

Decorating with greenery is a great way to transform a wedding venue to better fit your wedding style or theme. Using vines and branches can soften up the architectural structure of the space, as well as add some natural color that goes with everything!
