What It's Like Doing Your Own Wedding Flowers: An Interview with a Bride, Her Mom, and Her Sister

November 10, 2023 Alyssa Ayala

The bride, Sarah, along with her sister, Emily, and their mother, opted to undertake the intricate task of designing all of the wedding flowers themselves. Armed with an array of seasonal blooms and a shared vision, these women dedicated themselves to curating arrangements that would not only complement the picturesque garden setting, but also bring Sarah’s idyllic wedding vision to fruition.

Below, in an exclusive interview with sister-of-the-bride, Emily, she provides a firsthand perspective on the meticulous planning, artistic decisions, and poignant moments shared during the process of creating their own wedding florals. Discover the behind-the-scenes narrative of how the family planned, prepared, and executed the floral arrangements, the challenges met, and the joys experienced as Emily reflects on her family’s journey in wedding floral design.

How to Achieve the Perfect Room Flip in Your Wedding Venue

October 31, 2023 Alyssa Ayala

Some wedding venue spaces lend themselves to be the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony, as well as the optimal space for your wedding reception. Deciding to have both segments of your wedding day occur in the same area requires some additional logistical planning to achieve a smooth room flip. The term wedding room flip refers to the transitional period between the moment your ceremony commences and when your guests are invited back into the space to sit down for dinner.

Our planners recommend that if your wedding ceremony and reception will be taking place in the same space, all of the reception tables therefore need to be pre-set with all table setting components beforehand. That means covering the tables with tablecloths and table runners and setting plates, cutlery, glassware, napkins, table numbers, name cards, favors, candle votives, and floral arrangements into position. The reception tables should look like they are ready to sit at, minus the seating.
